What will we do at the first NO OBLIGATION meeting?

At the first no obligation meeting I will get a feel for the event that you are holding and discuss ideas, colours, shapes, numbers to be fed etc. My aim will be to come away with a detailed idea of what you are looking for, so I can prepare some options and provide designs and a quote for you. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what you want! I will gather information and can put some great ideas together. Your quote will be clearly broken down and will include possible options for cost compromises (based on your needs and what is possible within the requirements).

The first meeting will take place at a location that is easiest for you. If this is in the Wellington Region, this meeting will be FREE of charge. Outside of these areas there may be a travel charge but please email/call me for details.

Can the cakes/edibles be delivered in my area?

Delivery within the Wellington Region incurs no additional delivery fee. Delivery in the Manawatu, Rangitikei and Horowhenua districts is $50. Please email or call me if you would like delivery to another part of NZ and I will provide a quote. If you choose to transport the cake yourself, I cannot be responsible for any damage during the journey. However, I will provide instruction and advice and try to ensure that the cake is in the best possible position to transport successfully.

As there will be items I have to buy well in advance of your event, your 20% deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel within 14 days of the event (by which time you will have paid the full amount), 50% of the total after the deposit can be refunded. If you cancel within 7 days of the event, it is most likely that no refund will be given. If you cancel within 3 days of the event, no refund will be given.However, it may be that ingredient costs are very low for your item, but I have to spend lots of time on completing the finished look. If this is the case then I would refund you more than 50% within 14 days and and a proportion of the full amount within 7 days, as I wouldn't have spent time completing the item. It is unfair to charge you for time that has not been spent on your item, so I will always endeavour to refund you as much as possible if you have to cancel within 7 days of the event for a legitimate reason.

How much notice is needed?

Ideally as much notice as possible! However, if required, I can work with just four weeks notice for any cake/edible order and very often much less. Just give me a call or email me and I will let you know.

Will I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. You will be required to pay a non-refundable 20% deposit at least six weeks before your event. The full amount will be required no later than two weeks prior to the event.

Can I provide the cake and have it iced by you?

Yes! I am more than happy to ice a cake that you provide and this will be charged at an hourly rate which I will detail on the quote. This will still involve a no obligation consultation which will be followed by a quote; the same process as for making and icing the cake.

Can I have more than one type of cake or cup cakes?

Absolutely! You can have whatever you would like: moist lemon cake; chocolate mud cake; chocolate sponge; cinnamon custard cake; vanilla sponge; caramel cake…..

Can you cater for people with food allergies?

If you would like an entire cake made with a replacement foodstuff, this is no problem. If you would like individual items (such as cup cakes or slices) I can provide all, or a specific number, free from your required allergens. If I cannot make an entire cake or tier of a cake using alternative ingredients, I can provide a similarly decorated individual cake/edible for the person/s with the allergies.

However, I currently cannot guarantee that these foods will not contain traces of allergens, so please be aware of this when ordering these products and talking to your guests/recipients.

Alternative flours and spreads etc can be more expensive, so if there is a price difference this will be clearly stated on your no obligation quote.

Can we taste the cakes/edibles before the day?

Absolutely! This will usually happen after deciding to go ahead with a design as, very often, the design needs to be achievable with the texture of cake used.

Can I have personalised bride and groom cake toppers on my wedding cake?

Yes. I can create (or have made) personalised cake toppers. These can cost anything up to $150.

Can my edibles be personalised?

Yes. Edibles can be personalised with dates, names, initials, messages etc. This can be done in many ways, including edible ink pen, gold or silver leaf and edible paint. It is also possible to make a personalised stamp for shortbread or icing…. Just let me know what you would like.
